Is It A Crime To Be From Northern Nigeria?

I wanted one of my northern friends to write this article so that it could come from a personal place, but everyone was busy so I thought to myself that since I’m Igbo (and it’s already a crime to be one) what’s stopping me?

It’s a crime to be a northern Nigerian because Northerners have always been in power but have never taken time to develop the north.
It’s a crime to be one because no other ethnic group in Nigeria has presided over the death of as many Nigerians as the northerners have.
It’s a crime to be from the north because the north contributes nothing to Nigeria other than population. So why not allow them kill themselves?

It’s not a crime for the president of our country to be uninterested in the daily massacres happening in the north but it is a crime to write WAEC in Chibok.
It’s not a crime to sit under air conditioners in Abuja and trade blame with political opposition over the cause of strife in the north but it is a crime to build a house in Baga.
It’s not a crime to wish the northerners would just leave Nigeria but it is to be from Go to work in Adamawa.
Maybe we should just let them kill themselves since they only do it in their side of the country while we watch AFMAG and pray for our unconcerned leaders.

I know I’m not from the north, and I don’t know what it feels like to leave yourself praying that today Boko Haram does not follow your footsteps and remember your street, but the north is still part of this country. I’m not Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba or even Efik. I’m simply a Nigerian.
