A World Of Human Drones

I wonder whether I live in a world of mindless robots.
A world where no one tells me what I need to hear and only what I want to hear just because I have money.
A world where my ideas are always the best ideas just because I am the CEO.
A world where nobody questions my judgement just because they were given a position of power by me.
Do I live in a world of boot-lickers and eye-service men and women?

Where are the radicals and controversials of time past?
Sure they gave us headaches but those headaches only made us to reevaluate our stance and be sure of ourselves.
Have they all disappeared or is it that the power-hungry have surrounded themselves with all sorts of human drones?

I do know that these drones are of various kinds.
The career drones who will say yes to anything the boss says just for job security.
The spiritual drones who will say yes to anything that starts with “The Lord said.”
The political drones that wash the feet of political leaders with their tongues and saliva.
The esteem deficient drones who always jump when jump is heard so that they won’t stand out.

But I refuse to be a drone. There is a reason I was blessed with a brain. Not every plan is the best, not every idea is fail proof, not every lie must be condoned.

We need people who put conscience and reason above their stomachs and egos.

Then again what do I know.

  1. Lovely write-up,as far as nigeria is concerned all the rich and famous people have the best and most reasonable ideas while the less opportuned or poor people talk rubbish because they have nothing to show for the ideas they want to put down…dats the irony of life!!!

Gbam! Being able to standout from the crowd requires a certain amount of self confidence. If a person does not know their worth, they will forever be in the shadows of those who have money. Great post.
