“Sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never harm me.” Everyone knows this saying and even quote it occasionally, but this doesn’t doesn’t make them true. The real world translation of this saying is, “Sticks and stones can bruise your body for a few days, but words can scar you for life”

Words can have a devastating effect on us, like a neutron bomb which annihilates human life while leaving buildings intact. In other words, the world around us still looks the same, but there is nothing left living. If you have ever had someone use words like a weedeater to mow down everything that you had been cultivating in your life, you will be familiar with how destructive words can be.
