I didn’t have everything I wanted, but I was content and fulfilled. I thought I needed the things I wanted, until I ended up with very little. This was when I realised that I already had what I needed.
It is nice to have the latest phone, the nicest motorbike, live in a nice suburb and eat great food everyday, but all of these things are not necessary. Modern culture teaches us that unless we have the latest and greatest, as well as the smartest and the nicest, we need to work harder to earn more money so that we can incur more debt to get all these things that we think we need. When we subscribe to this mindset, our dissatisfaction is guaranteed, because we no sooner buy what we thought would make us happy, when something newer and nicer appears on the market.
